Eddie Costa had the makings of a great jazz pianist, and an important vibraphone player. The discography is as complete as I can make it, given that there are still some records I have never seen. As a gifted reader, Eddie was popular as a session musician in New York: a consequence of this is that he appears on many albums whose jazz content is small, and his contributions amount to short solo passages, obbligati behind singers, or even just presence in the ensemble. The discography is arranged album by album in rough chronological order of recording.

and has indexes to three main types of session, arranged by leading artist, and to compilation albums. There are a few doubtlful items arising from ambiguous, conflicting or incorrect information published elsewhere.
After his death a memorial concert was held, and a record issued of some of the proceedings.
There is a single alphabetical list of albums, and for a stricter chronological order you can approach the albums through a session-by-session list. This last is necessarily imprecise as for many sessions exact dates are not known.
Where he plays both instruments during a session, an indication is given after each song title of which instrument, p or vb, he played on that song.
